Environmental Impact Assignment
An EIA, Environmental Impact Assignment, is a document that must describe and give suggestions to the measures needed to decrease future environmental impact of an operation. SKB must include an EIA when they apply for a permit to build a final repository.
- The assignments of the EIA-committee are:
Review the EIA submitted by SKB
Formulate consultation questions to the SKB and prepare suggestions for referral
Give support to the Environment and Health Board
Observe the consultation process for the planned expansion of SFR (Final repository for short-lived radioactive waste).
- It is a great challenge to work with possible environmental consequences both for mankind and environment in a perspective of 100 000 years. The EIA-committe will work intensively with the EIA-description from SKB. We will also actively participate in upcoming consultations.
