- SKB has chosen Östhammars municipality because it believes that it is a long term secure solution to store the spent fuel in the municipality, says the Östhammar Municipal Deputy Mayor Anna-Lena Söderblom (M).
- A repository in Östhammar is of great importance to the municipality, particularly in three areas: new jobs, better roads and communications and most likely more inhabitants and visitors, says Mayor Jacob Spangenberg (C). Until the final government decision, the municipality’s main task is to monitor and review the SKB´s application.
- If the Swedish government gives a green light to SKB's application and proposes that if the repository can be located here, it will be very positive for Östhammar municipality, says second Deputy Mayor Margareta Widen-Berggren (S).
